As the adverts for ITV2’s multi award-winning show, Love Island return to our TV screens, it can only mean one thing…. the start of summer is officially here!  So wave goodbye to your social life and say hello to your 9pm daily fix of summer romance, the hottest bikini fashion, and the infamous recoupling schenanigans, as THE most talked about show of last year is back!

Panelists on the night included some of the TV industries best creatives from ITV Studios and Motion Content Group which included; Executive Producer, Tom Gould,Commissioning Editor, Angela Jain, the fabulous presenter, Caroline Flack, Head of Format Support, Ella Umansky and Digital Marketing Lead, Kenny England.

As a regular event host and member of the Royal Television Society’s Future’s Committee, I had a fab time hosting this very special ‘Anatomy of a Hit’ discussion to see what makes Love Island such watchable telly year, after year. Did you know they have 12 edit suites running simultaneously 24 hours a day, so that we don’t miss a glimpse of the action?! And viewers really do influence how the show is structured, through engaging with fans through multiple social media platforms and the Love Island app which is one of the key drivers of the shows success, as the show achieved over 2 BILLION Twitter impressions last year!

So whether you love it or hate it, Love Island is quickly becoming part of the national conversation and highlights many interesting issues about how we, as a society view relationships and judge eachother when it comes to sex, friendships, love and dating.
